Spotting anorexia

How do you know if someone is anorexic and how do you go about aproaching the issue with them if you suspect that they do have anorexia?

Some things you could look for include (usually a combination of these things) -

1. Low weight
2. If they diet obsessively
3. For women : loss of their period for more than three months.
4. If they think they are fat even though they are very skinny
5. Some people lose hair.
6. Excessive exercising and wierd food habits
7. Depression and lack of self esteem
8. If their weight is below normal body weight and they still think they are fat.

If the person is a friend just try and talk to them. Don'g accuse them of being anorexic but talk to them about their habits and see if you can help them spot the patterns of problematic behaviour. If they are unhealthy due to this they should consult a nutrition expert or doctor.
